I just finished up the Broad Ripple art fair last weekend and enjoyed very much...albeit we had a bad storm on Sunday which damaged a lot of tents and a lot of art. I was in my tent with 3 others, hanging on to the tent frame while the 60mph winds and hail battered the fair. You could hear glass breaking, and my neighbors tent actually blew into the back of mine. Luckily I didn't have any damage, so I guess all is well...oh, and a BIG Thank You to the 3 wonderful visitors that stayed with me and helped hold down the tent.
When the storm hit and I saw my neighbors with the super fancy, most expensive, and heavily weighted tent that didn't even sway in the initial first gusts, ditch their tent and run for safety in the art center, I started to question my decision to stay and hang on....after all, isn't my tent with its metal frame a giant lighting rod, a flimsy piece of metal that could easily be twisted in knots if thats what the storm wanted to do with it. So perhaps in the future it would be wise to run to shelter when I see an ominous black cloud heading my way...I'll try to keep that in mind :) Besides the weather, it was a great show and thanks to everyone that came out! Below I have some pictures of the tent that was blown into the back of mine, the one on its right is damaged as well. I also have pics of my new work that I just finished... Can you believe it? My first still llife in quite some time...and I think I like it!
