I've blocked in some of the color on this painting...notice how the brown shade still shows through...I add layers of paint very thin to give it a luminescent quality and to preserve some of the detail of my original sketch.

I finished a couple of sketches for the Next Generation School commission project I'm working on...they started out as pencil drawings, then I took a picture of them and uploaded that onto my computer...where I used a pen and tablet plus photoshop to shade them...
Ok, one more thing...just got my acceptance letter from Broad Ripple Art Fair today!!! and I made it in (yay!) I love this art fair...it will be taking place on May 17, 18, and 19...the 17th is a Friday, and I believe that is just an evening thing or a "preview party". I have a couple more art shows I'm waiting to hear from, so I'll be updating that page on my website as time goes on...
Two posts in one day...wow...that's amazing for me :) These pictures are from the Next Generation School in Champaign...they recently purchased 3 of my paintings from Wind Water and Light Gallery and are looking to commission a fourth to go in the hall with the large painting (shown below with DNA/book/globe/bird). I'm currently working on drawing some sketches/ideas for the new painting and then will go from there...so I will post some more updates on this project as it progresses...
This painting is sort of based on the idea of man's last hour, not in a religious way at all, but in reality, we're destroying our planet and at the same time our own lives, our kids lives, and humanity's future as a whole. There is fire, a clock, and horses running/succumbing to the chaos...the earth is in the far background...trees are falling down to the left, and flood waters are rising. The door in the top left hand corner symbolizes our escape...there will be a light shining out around the edges of it...escape to where...who knows :)
This painting is 24x36 (I think) on stretched canvas. |
