Finally some pictures! This is one of the 8" x 16" commissions... The other 8" x 16" commission... These next pictures show the progression of the childrens hospital commission... This one is me using a palette knife to apply a lot of gesso and then I smooth it out with a large paint brush. The gesso... The finished canvas with two coats of gesso on the front and all the sides...after this I layout the painting in a pencil drawing and then start with the paint. There will be more progress pictures and then the final painting just as soon as I get it finished.

I have 3 commissions to work on this week...two 8"x16" landscapes, and a 26" x 32" painting similar to one I've done in the past. The 26"x32" is for a childrens hospital unit for cancer and blood disorder patients. I'm thrilled to be able to do a painting that might help lighten the day of a child who's ill and stuck in a hospital.
I've finished the two landscapes and will post pics sometime today...the other painting is in progress and I have some pics of the first stages that I might post today or tomorrow. I actually stretched the canvas for the hospital painting which I don't always get to do because its time consuming and expensive, but it turned out really great. The stretcher bars are 1 1/4" thick and the canvas is a good quality heavy thickness that I coated with a couple coats of primer. It looks amazing and I'm very excited! So I'll be posting some pics in a few hours...now off to paint : |
